I receive calls and e-mails every day from people with what can only be called unrealistic goals… people who want to make $1 million from the publication of their first book or $10,000 on their first speaking engagement. When Oprah had her TV show on daytime TV, I would constantly hear “Oprah would love this” as they were ready to pack their bags for Chicago and the Oprah studio.
Those wanting to find their success in the public eye may want to take another look. I’m not here to say these things can’t happen, but the percentage of people who will reach any of those goals, even in their entire lifetime, is quite small. For this reason, why not set goals you can reach so you can continue to reach higher and higher? It may be more wise to think of your goals like a staircase…one step at a time…
Sometimes just starting out as an author or a speaker can be overwhelming; perhaps you do not even know what your goals are at this time. I am available to help authors, speakers, business owners / entrepreneurs, and others identify their goals and develop the strategy to get there.
Keeping your goals realistic helps you to be and feel more successful… and gives you a reason to celebrate more often.
